How to Choose an LED Flood Light in Singapore: Wattage, IP Rating, Beam and Mounting
Last updated: 6 October 2026
An LED flood light is a wide-beam outdoor fixture that lights a large open area from a single point, such as a car park, shop front, loading bay or backyard.
Quick answer: Run four checks. First, wattage: choose it from the area to cover and the mounting height, and use lumens to compare models. Second, IP rating: IP65 covers dust and low-pressure water jets, which suits outdoor mounting. Third, beam angle: all eight models on our site list a wide beam of >120Β°. Fourth, colour temperature: our product pages list warm 3000K and cool 6500K as colour options. For a wattage and quantity recommendation for your site, send us your floor plan.
Step 1: Match wattage to your area and mounting height
Direct answer: Wattage is the power a light draws, and lumens measure how bright it is. Compare lumens first, then pick a wattage that suits the area to cover and the height of the fixture.
Our own-brand LED flood lights run from 10W to 300W. The listed lumens rise in step with wattage (the product pages give lumens as Β±10% and efficacy as 80β90 lm/W), so the 100W model lists ten times the lumens of the 10W model. A higher wattage suits a wider area or a higher mounting point, and a lower wattage suits a compact, close-range spot.
This wattage guide lists each model’s listed brightness with typical uses. The typical uses are a general guide and the areas overlap: the same area can call for a different wattage, depending on its size and mounting height. Our team confirms the right wattage for your site.
| Wattage | Listed brightness | Typical uses (areas overlap) | Product page |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10W | 900 lm | Backyard corner, side gate | 10W LED flood light |
| 20W | 1,800 lm | Backyard, shop-front sign | 20W LED flood light |
| 30W | 2,700 lm | Shop front, small yard | 30W LED flood light |
| 50W | 4,500 lm | Shop front, loading bay | 50W LED flood light |
| 100W | 9,000 lm | Car park, loading bay | 100W LED flood light |
| 150W | 13,500 lm | Car park, open yard | 150W LED flood light |
| 200W | 18,000 lm | Car park, loading bay, open yard | 200W LED flood light |
| 300W | 27,000 lm | Large car park, building façade, sports court, construction site | 300W LED flood light |
How many watts does your site need? The answer depends on the area, the mounting height and the number of fixtures. Our light specialist can review your floor plan and suggest how many fixtures to install.
Step 2: Check the IP rating (what IP65 means on a flood light)
Direct answer: IP65 means the fixture is dust-tight and protected against low-pressure water jets from any direction.
IP stands for ingress protection. The first digit rates protection against dust and solids, and 6 means dust-tight. The second digit rates protection against water, and 5 means protection against low-pressure water jets from any direction. For a fixture exposed to rain and dust, IP65 is a solid baseline. All eight of our LED flood lights list IP65, IK07 impact-resistant glass and TUV CB certification.
Step 3: Read the beam angle
Direct answer: Beam angle is how widely the light spreads: a wide beam covers a broad area, and a narrow beam concentrates light on one spot.
All eight models list a beam angle of >120Β°, a wide spread made for lighting an open area from one point. Because the beam is the same across the range, your choice between models comes down to wattage, colour temperature and where the fixture sits.
Step 4: Choose a colour temperature
Direct answer: Colour temperature is measured in kelvin (K): 3000K is a warm, yellowish white, and 6500K is a cool, bluish daylight white.
Our flood light pages list 3000K and 6500K as colour options. Check the product page for the wattage you want, or ask our team to confirm the colour temperature before you order. Warm 3000K gives a welcoming look, and 6500K gives a crisp daylight look.
Step 5: Decide where to mount it
Direct answer: Mount the fixture where its beam covers the target area, tilt it down toward that area, and keep the power connection point close to the fixture.
- Height: A higher mount spreads light over a wider area with less brightness at ground level, and a lower mount gives a brighter, narrower patch.
- Aim: Tilt the fixture downward and keep the beam out of drivers’ and neighbours’ eyes.
- Power: The product pages list a 1.5 m cable and an input voltage of 160β265V, so plan the connection point within reach and match it to your supply.
- Wiring: Ask a licensed electrician to handle the wiring and weatherproofing of cable joints, or enquire through our installation service.
Outdoor flood light for a car park or shop front
Car park
A car park needs even light across a wide area, so settle the area size, the number of mounting positions and the glare toward drivers. Compare the wattage rows in the table against your area, and let the light specialist confirm from your drawing. For an indoor warehouse, see our warehouse lighting guide for high bay lighting.
Shop front
A shop front calls for light that shows off the signage and façade while keeping glare away from passers-by. Pick the colour temperature to match the look of your brand, and mount the fixture at a height and angle that light the frontage evenly. You can see our range in person at one of our 5 showrooms; call the branch first to check what is on display.
Send us your floor plan
Contractors, facility managers and shop owners can send us a floor plan or drawing. Our light specialist reviews it and suggests how many fixtures to install. Browse our LED flood light range, see our B2B services for trade orders, or enquire about installation. Our own-brand LED flood lights are stocked in Singapore with a 2-year warranty.
